Let's see..... we went to the Run for the Arts festival in Couch park yesterday. Kind of a chilly day. Took Jordanne on the pony ride. Got her face painted. Went to get one of those old time western pictures where we were wearing old time clothes and they printed the photo in black and white. Kind of a shame it wasn't in color - Laura looked HOT in that get-up she had on. It was a very vibrant red. My oh my oh my......
Watched a couple movies. General comments - the movie "Rendention" isn't worth seeing. It's like they take an hour and a half trying to set something up - during which time you are board out of your skull and trying hard just to keep up with what the heck the plot is. When they FINALLY get around to having a point, it isn't that profound. Basically, the movie needs an editor - someone who is going to ask the question "who cares?" They has a statement to make, but by the time they got around to it I was so annoyed at the movie I really didn't care anymore. Waste of time. Other movie I watched - or tried to watch - was the assassination of Jessie James. Netflix movie. Got about 30 minutes into it before the DVD wouldn't play anymore. Oh well. Can't really say how that one was.
Planned on spending today mucking around in the back yard leveling things out in preparation for the shed, but spent most of the afternnon installing a new dish washer instead. We used consumer reports to identify what model we wanted - marched into Lowes and told them "we want that one" without looking at anything elese - brought it home and installed it. I'm running the first load of dishes in it now. The last straw on the old one was that it has been getting worse and worse at actually washing the dishes. Sure, it was loud and the handle was broke - but if it doesn't WASH the dishes, what's the point of having it? Well, the new one we got is an energy efficient model, only cost $350, was a consumer reports "best buy", and it's so quiet! Yeah! We can actually watch a movie with the dish washer running now!
So, that makes 2 major purchases in 4 months that Consumer Reports has been a big help on. I'd say it's been worth the subscription.
So, Laura, Jordanne, and I are off to see my parents on a joint vacation in Branson, Missouri not next weekend, but the weekend after. Laura is really looking forward to seeing them. We are planning on going to Yakov Smirnoff, taking the train ride, going through the Titanic exhibit, and other stuff we find as our fancy strikes us. Hopefully Jordanne can sit still through the Yakov show. I'll let you know how it goes.
It's been monsoon season here this past week. I need to get out to smooth out the back yard now that the standing water has finally subsided. One good thing about the rain - it helps to smooth things out and pack them down naturally. I just hope the ground is not too soft once the shed guy comes to deliver - which should be next week.
